Dr Thapelo Maotoe is a University of Cape Town (UCT) graduate currently working as Strategic Programme Development Manager at Right to Care. Dr Maotoe previously worked for USAID in the Care and Treatment Division where he provided policy advice, normative and technical guidelines and also managed PEPFAR technical projects. Prior to joining USAID, he was a medical manager for Right to Care managing Themba Lethu clinic based at Helen Joseph Hospital. This is one of the country’s largest adult ARV sites.
After matriculating with a university exemption, Dr Maotoe studied for an MBCHB from UCT. He also qualified with a Diploma in HIV/AIDS Management from College of Medicine of South Africa. Wits also awarded him a certificate in Good Clinical Practice. His current work involves providing clinical advisory services to CEO and Executive Directors; identifying potential sustainable projects; applying for new grants and providing strategic counsel towards USAID-funded projects at Right to Care.
