Jean Scrimgeour


Jean Scrimgeour is a public diplomacy and democratic governance specialist with experience working in the United States, the United Kingdom and Southern Africa. Currently a Global Proposal Development Manager for Voluntary Services Overseas, Jean was formerly employed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in South Africa and the United States as a Political and Communications Officer; as a Political Governance Project Officer at IDASA and Program Manager for the South Africa-Washington International Program. Jean is also the author of the 2014 & 2015 Freedom House “Freedom in the World” Index reports for Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland.


She has a Masters in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies from Kings College in London as a British Chevening Scholar and a BSocSci in Law and Politics with an honors degree in International Relations from the University of Cape Town.
